Face The Doubt

Having doubts is easy, it’s natural. Doubt is a tool of our psyche. They slowly creep into our routines, find a little corner to hide in, then they sit there and wait. Time is on their side.

We live as we normally do, then a decision needs to be made on our part, doubt knows this is when you are most vulnerable. This is when it can do it’s damage.

At first it’s just a whisper, doubt is checking to see if we are listening. When we turn away from our doubts then it knows we heard. The doubt gets louder.

We can cover our ears, we can turn up the music but the doubt is internal and unrelenting. So we submit to them, we give in to the doubt.

We submit to them because they are convenient. Doubt is convenient because it allows us to have an excuse. When life isn’t going our way, doubt has given our fears a way out. Doubt is an escape hatch for our fears.

What do we do instead?

Turn and face the doubt. Look straight into it and say “You have no power over me”.

Your doubt won’t magically disappear. We need a little doubt but we need it to be a compass, not an escape hatch.

Listen to your doubts, hear what they are trying to really tell you. Take power over them and let them guide you.

That is called trust.
