How to forgive yourself in difficult times

Forgive your heart,
For you are growing,
Evolving and stumbling,
Sometimes failing.

Let your soul rest,
Upon the tears of yesterday,
Longing for the forgotten,
Yearning for clarity.

Console your spirit,
Unsure and tired,
Weary from musing,
Looking for love.

Allow yourself space,
To reach for joy,
Find a softness,
To a life held dear.

Feel the emotions,
Right down to the tears,
Letting them fall,
Upon your pillow.

Be still in your thoughts,
Knowing all is well,
Sending light,
Through the candle’s flicker.

All days are blessed,
With eternal promise,
The embrace of the universe,
Comforting you now.

This poem is for the confusion and heartache I sometimes face. I need to forgive myself. My family has not gathered for a holiday in quite some time.

Every holiday at my grandma’s house looked like Gourmet magazine when I was a child. It felt idyllic, yet under the surface, it was broken. So many words unspoken, so many truths left unsaid.

Now I try to communicate and send love to everyone. It is the way of my heart. Yet sometimes, I am not kind to myself and feel like a failure.

Through words, I can heal. That is my wish for all of you. Whether you are together this holiday or not, you are loved. The universe has a great love for you at every moment.
