Do historical books have a positive impact on people and do they belong in school curriculum?

They belong in school curriculum yes, but do they have a positive impact? I believe there is no impact. When you read a book about the Holocaust you feel bad for the people that went through it but it doesn’t impact you as a person. We read books like that to learn about the mistakes of the past and if they dont get taught in schools how are we going to learn? I mean seriously most kids dont read books about stuff they dont know they ;like unless they covered it in school. When you think back onto all the laws we pass for schools, do you really want your child not learning about what made us who we are. But i digress, whether you want them reading it or not you cant say that it is important to know. The impact is has is only the knowledge it passes to the reader. Sure you could be inspired to be better then people or be worse than others but that’s a conscious decision by one soul. In my experience I have found that no one cared of what happened- let me rephrase that, they weren’t affected by the history. We know what happened we just know that it is in the past and it shouldn’t be forgotten because if we forget what happened we cannot stop it from happening again.

Maus by Art Spiegelman is a great example of this, it shows how people are affected by something they live through and through hat their parents live through. Otherwise there is no effect on the mental or physical state of a person. But alas there are exceptions to everything. Empathy is hat we use to feel bad for the people who went through things like the holocaust or every day bullying, its a basic human emotion and that is the maximum what happens when we read these books if it isn’t utter boredom or pure disinterest. I believe the human mind is simple, and its simplicity is shown through various reactions to situations and topics. You can see joy or horror, fear, and enjoyment in almost everything we do. So if someone is affected by a book about the holocaust then the answer is simple- they have not yet been exposed fully to the outside world

We see what they go through but we can never truly understand unless we go through the same thing and even then we all have different reactions to things and we deal with them in different ways than other people do so i guess we can never know the true effect they have on people but i still believe the yhave no effect.
