2018 Manifesto

As I reflect on 2017, I was given many lifelong lessons to move into 2018 with. I now have a healthy and beautiful baby that I adore. I had the opportunity to join the high and respectable credit score club, which I’m grateful for.

You saw me stay consistent and continue to save money despite the many expenses that life threw my way. I saw myself open an IRA account and take my life even more serious than I did. I also saw myself attempt to explain what I was doing to someone else, and realized my mind doesn’t always translate well to my mouth in conversation.

I saw myself work hard enough to trade in my Challenger for my new love, a Jeep Wrangler. I also saw myself get fed up with my current 9 to 5 situation and start to explore outside opportunities, as much as I wanted to make Gen Y look like we don’t job hop. Oh well, i’m no fool and I get it now.

I saw myself graduate for the second time with my MBA. I can recall sitting out and not knowing how I would even get back in school to obtain my undergrad degree. God is good.

I saw myself read book after book to better myself. I saw myself go to the gym but not give it the priority that it needs week in and out. I need to continue to refine the eating portion of being healthy.

At 30, life has treated me fairly well, and I’ve come to a point where it’s time to kick it into the next gear. 2018 is the year of action and hard work for me. I have the credentials, I have the cushy 9 to 5 that isn’t fulfilling, my bills are taken care of, but it’s time to chase those dreams.

I’ll start by releasing my new website, currently in the building stages. I’ve been through many side hustles and business that I felt would generate revenue, but I wasn’t consistent for various reasons.

It just wasn’t time, it just didn’t fit me, I was chasing the wrong things. Everything isn’t for everyone, I’ve learned. This time, I’ve tried to align my personal gifts with my interests and come up with something that I feel will provide value to other like minded individuals. This time, I’m not afraid of who I am.

I hope to learn to love in 2018. I believe that it’ll only enhance my life and business endeavors. If you don’t care about others, I’m of the belief that your business pursuits and life will suffer at one point or another.

I plan to utilize the time that I’m awake much better for 2018. If it isn’t productive, it needs to be cut down. Social media, internet surfing, “Youtubing”, etc… Thank you Gary Vee for this realization. More actual work and less contemplating.

So many people believe in me and think the world of me, including myself.I get these “you’re going to be great” comments a lot, and it feels good.Who am I to let myself or them down when I have these vivid ideas in my head of what I want my life to be like and how I’d like to impact the world?

These visions won’t go away, and I’m crazy enough to believe that if I work hard enough, great things can happen. Every time I go on a nice vacation, I go into this state of figuring out how I can make this feeling come consistently.

2018 is about less theory and more practice for me. Enough books on the stock market, real estate, and business — work needs to be done now, Aaron. I’m ready for the hard work and now understand that I can’t prevent the forest fires, I just have to deal with them as they come. That’s what the successful ones do. Head down, working hard and chasing goals.

2018, i’ll see you in 2019.
