What does meeting one person at a time do?

Meeting one person at a time allows us to give undivided attention and focus, and that’s how we devote ourselves to that person. When we meet multiple people at a time, we cannot fully focus on each of them because our attention goes to all of them, even if we manage to focus on one person, our mind thinks and remains aware of the remaining people’s presence. To make people feel completely seen and heard, to make them feel valued, we must try to meet them one by one, because that’s how we can truly dedicate our time for them.

We want to do more with less that’s why we save our time by meeting multiple people at the same time because we think meeting one by one will take more time. And yes this is true that meeting people individually takes more time than meeting with all of them at the same time. However, if we truly want to know someone, if we really want to understand them, it’s really hard to do it in a crowd. When we try to get to know people between other people, we miss many things that the other person doesn’t reveal about themselves. But by meeting them alone, we can know more about them personally than with others.

We build close meaningful deep-seated relationships when we serve people. By meeting one person at a time and giving our complete attention, and by truly listening to them and understanding them, that’s how we serve and build trust. That’s why instead of inviting everybody, it’s better to invite one person and we can invite the next person later. To do more with less is not always the best strategy for everything.
